How To

Care

Store product below 120℉ (48.9℃) to avoid wax melting and product deformation. Our fire starters are made of 100% soy wax and when exposed to temperatures in excess of 85℉ (29.4℃) they will get softer although it does not affect their efficacy.

Best Use

Utilize the fire starters for any wood or charcoal burning in backyard bonfires, camping, backpacking, grilling, survival kit, wood ovens and stoves, fireplaces, and more.

For optimal ignition of the fire starter, tilt it at an angle between 90 to 160 degrees, and use a lighter on the side with loose wood shavings. Although TinderNest fire starters light easily, they are made of only natural wood shavings and soy wax so there are no toxic chemicals present to aid with ignition.

If the fire starter gets wet, please shake off the excess water before lighting. Avoid leaving the product submerged in water for long periods of time.

About

It all started with my love of the great outdoors. As a camping and outdoor enthusiast, I found myself constantly stocking up on fire starters. In 2015, I experimented with making my own fire starters for personal use. The very first ones were made out of shredded office paper, paraffin wax from old candles, and lighter fluid placed into treated solo paper cups. I was proud of my product, however I knew that there were many toxic chemicals in the ingredients and my fire starters were not all that different from the ones I used to purchase at the store...

After extensive research on ingredients, the science behind different materials, and many years of experimentation, Tinder Nest fire starters finally started to take shape, this time as non-toxic, environmentally conscious products. It was quite exciting to experience the development of such a high quality fire starter. The shredded office paper which contained plastics was replaced with 100% natural and untreated wood shavings. The paraffin wax which releases toxic chemicals when burning was replaced with 100% natural soy wax which is non-toxic, ethically produced, and sustainable. The manufacturing process has been set up in a way that minimizes the power and resources needed, hence having a much smaller impact on the environment. We are very proud to offer both a product and packaging that are fully biodegradable...
